Building physics engineering · UK
Buildings that stay warm, dry and comfortable, and prove it on paper.
We analyse how heat, air, moisture, light and sound move through your building, so the design meets Part L, Part O and the Building Safety Act before it reaches site.
What we do
Engineering advice across the building envelope and the spaces inside it
How a project runs
From first drawings to Gateway 2 and beyond
Brief
We review your drawings, specifications and programme, and agree which regulations, standards and targets apply.
Assess
Calculation and simulation: U-values, thermal bridges, condensation risk, energy, overheating, daylight and acoustics.
Report
Clear findings with marked-up details and practical fixes, written so that designers and building control can act on them.
Support
We stay with the design team through changes, submissions and site queries, keeping the golden thread of information intact.
Contact us to start your project
Send us a short description and your drawings. We will reply with the assessments you need and a fixed-fee proposal.
Services
Building physics services
Each service can be taken on its own or combined into one design-stage package. All work is carried out to the relevant British and European standards and current Building Regulations.
Not sure which assessment you need?
Tell us the building type, stage and what building control or your client has asked for. We will set out the scope.
Insights
Notes on building physics in practice
Short technical notes on the questions that come up most often on our projects and in our training.

Principles of Building Physics
A one-day course delivered with the Institution of Mechanical Engineers. It shows how to apply building physics to real projects to improve comfort, reduce energy use and meet net zero and safety standards.
After the course you will be able to:
- Understand and apply regulatory requirements, including the Building Safety Act, Gateway 2 and net-zero standards.
- Apply core building physics principles to analyse heat, air, moisture, light and sound interactions.
- Assess and optimise thermal performance, moisture control, ventilation, daylighting and acoustics.
- Address practical challenges such as overheating, condensation and indoor air quality.
- Build professional competence to deliver compliant, sustainable buildings.

About
Engineering judgement for the building envelope
Building Physic is a building physics engineering practice led by Soleiman Arebi, a Chartered Engineer and façade specialist with more than 18 years of experience.
We work with architects, mechanical and civil engineers, contractors, façade specialists and developers. Our job is to make sure the building performs as designed: energy-efficient, free of damp and mould, comfortable in summer and winter, and compliant with the regulations that apply to it.
Soleiman also delivers the IMechE one-day course Principles of Building Physics, training engineers, architects, surveyors and energy assessors to apply the same methods on their own projects.
How we work
What you can expect from us
Design-stage first
Problems in the envelope cost least to fix on the drawing board. We engage early and test details before they are fixed.
Compliance you can evidence
Our reports are written for the Gateway 2 submission and the golden thread, with assumptions, standards and inputs stated.
Practical recommendations
Every finding comes with a buildable fix, considering materials, sequence and cost, along with the calculation.
Work with us
From a single condensation risk check to full envelope support on a higher-risk building.
